Our Commitment to Accessibility

At Oxford University Press, we strive to make our websites accessible to the widest possible audience. We follow established principles of web usability and universal design to ensure that our platforms and products can be used by all of our customers, including those with visual, hearing, cognitive, or motor impairments, regardless of their chosen device, web browser, or operating system. We have partnered with certified consultants to test the accessibility of our technology platforms to ensure they comply with Revised Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act and level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1). These guidelines have been established through the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), an independent body setting accessibility standards for individuals, organizations, and governments internationally.

A Program of Improvement

Oxford University Press is committed to delivering accessibility now and into the future. This continuous improvement program benefits from expert consultation with a number of universities and institutional partners, as well as disability librarians and independent consultants who have tested and validated our approach. We publicly report the results of these conformance tests using Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs), which have been produced for our principal platforms.

In North America, we have commissioned independent VPAT assessment reports to provide a snapshot of the accessibility profile of our technology platforms and products. VPATs can be downloaded for the following OUP platforms used to deliver our products:

In addition to VPATs for these specific platforms, we will provide, upon request, a detailed summary of accessibility conformance for any title in our Higher Education catalog. This document, called a Product Accessibility Report, can be obtained by submitting a request with our Customer Services team in North America or the United Kingdom.
